On 21 May 2024, Token Tails announced a grant from the Stellar Community Fund (SCF) in funding round SCF #26. The Stellar Community Fund backs projects that build on the Stellar network; the grant amount was not part of the announcement.

What the grant was for

Token Tails was then a virtual cat shelter game: players explored the shelter, looked after pixel cats, and the project worked to send support to real shelter cats. The SCF grant went into building that on Stellar. The plan named four things:

  • more to do in the virtual shelter;
  • stronger links with real cat shelters;
  • deeper Stellar integration;
  • community activities for cat lovers.

Token Tails later sold digital cat packs on Soroban, Stellar’s smart contract platform. That contract is open source in the Token Tails repository (the Soroban contract source).

Update, October 2026

Token Tails closed its Stellar cat packs on 9 October 2026. Its games now support one real shelter, Pink Paw in Kaunas, Lithuania, and every on-chain payout to Pink Paw is public at /shelter-payouts. Read the whole journey in the Token Tails story.
