Catnip Heist is a free cat stealth game that runs in your browser: guide two cats past Kibble Corp’s guards, grab catnip coins, open the vault and free a shelter cat. There is nothing to download and no sign-up needed, and it works with a keyboard or on a touch screen.
This guide covers the controls, the 16 levels, how the three stars work, and what happens when you win.
Key takeaways
- Play free at tokentails.com/heist, on a computer or a phone.
- You control two cats and swap between them: one holds a plate, the other gets through.
- Three stars per level: win, collect every catnip coin, and win unseen at or under par time.
- Stuck for 20 seconds? Glowing ghost paw prints show the route.
- After a win, one tap and Token Tails sends Pink Paw a 0.01 USDC treat.
What Catnip Heist is
Kibble Corp has locked up the catnip and a shelter cat with it. You run the rescue with two cats at once, in a 3D isometric world seen from above.
Catnip Heist is a puzzle-stealth game, not an action game. Guard dogs patrol with vision cones; if one sees a cat, you are spotted. Doors open only while a cat stands on a pressure plate, so most rooms need both cats working together. You win when the shelter cat is free and both cats reach the exit portal.
Each level’s shelter cat is also a real one. When you pick a level, the game shows the pixel cat you will free next to a real cat at Pink Paw (Rožinė pėdutė), a cat shelter in Kaunas, Lithuania, with its real name and status.
How to play: controls
| Action | Keyboard | Touch screen |
|---|---|---|
| Move | WASD or arrow keys | Joystick |
| Swap to the other cat | Q or Tab | SWAP |
| Use (plates, keys, crates) | E or Enter | ACT |
| Meow (lure a guard dog) | Space | MEOW |
| Rewind 5 seconds (levels 1 to 3) | R | Rewind button |
The meow is your best tool. A dog that hears it walks over to sniff, which pulls it off its post for a few seconds. Lure it one way, then slip past with the other cat.
The 16 levels in two acts
Catnip Heist has 16 campaign levels, eight per act. Each one adds a new idea on top of the last.
Act 1: Kibble Corp Warehouse, Kennel Row, Twin Locks, Counting House, Watchtower Yard, Conveyor Halls, Split Shift, Kibble Corp HQ.
Act 2: Deep Blue, After Hours, Signal Box, Spin Cycle, Kibble Factory, The Golden Bowl, Night Gallery, Kibble Corp Tower.
The first level teaches everything: sneak past a guard dog, hold a plate so your partner can pass, grab the key, meow to lure a dog, then open the crate and walk both cats to the exit.
Tips for three stars
Every level has three stars, and you keep each star forever once you have it. They can come from different winning runs, so you do not need a perfect run on your first try.
- Heist complete: free the shelter cat and get both cats out.
- All catnip: win with every catnip coin collected.
- Clean and quick: win without being spotted, at or under par time.
Tips that help:
- Go for one star at a time. Win first, then replay for coins, then replay for a clean, fast run.
- Watch the guard’s back. Wait for a dog to turn away before you cross its cone.
- A cat on a plate can still be seen. Park your plate-holder out of the dogs’ sight lines before you swap away.
- Use the objective chip. The current goal is always on screen. Tap it to show the route.
- Let the ghost paws help. If you make no progress for 20 seconds, or get spotted twice on the same goal, glowing paw prints appear on the floor along the route. They disappear once you move on.
- Rewind instead of restarting. On the first three levels, getting spotted offers “Rewind 5 s” (or press R).
What happens when you win
You can play without thinking about any of this. But each win can also unlock a free treat that Token Tails sends to a real shelter.
After a win, you can tap once, with no sign-in needed, and Token Tails sends Pink Paw a small treat, on-chain to Pink Paw’s wallet. Token Tails covers each 0.01 USDC treat, so it costs you nothing. Token Tails sets aside 1 USDC of treats a day, which is up to 100 treats, and the count resets at 00:00 UTC. You can send one treat a day; if today’s treats are already gone, the game says so and they come back after the reset.
Every treat is a public payout. Open “Sent to shelters” in the game, or the shelter payouts page, to see each one with a link to its transaction.
Does it save my progress?
Yes, in two ways. If you are signed in, or playing as a guest from the main game, each won run is saved to your account. If not, won runs are kept on this device; when you later sign in, the game asks whether to add them to your account.
Only won runs are saved, and the server replays each one to check it before it records your score and stars. Heist runs never use up lives in the main game.
