Pink Paw Knight is a free 3D kitten rescue game that runs in your browser: you play Clem, a tiny knight cat with a pink bow, and bring twelve lost kittens home to the Rescue House. Every kitten carries the name and photo of a real cat at Pink Paw, a cat shelter in Kaunas, Lithuania.
This guide covers the controls, how the rescue works, tips for finding every kitten, and how saving works.
Key takeaways
- Play free at tokentails.com/swordcat: no download, on a computer, a phone or with a gamepad.
- Twelve kittens are lost on Purrhaven Isle. Find them, free them and bring them home.
- Meow near barrels and odd corners: kittens hide in silly places.
- Lantern Stones save your progress in this browser and let you swap kitten buddies.
- The kittens are based on real Pink Paw cats; their adventures are made up.
What Pink Paw Knight is
Pink Paw Knight is a third-person adventure made by Token Tails and launched on 16 October 2026. It opens on Purrhaven Isle the day before Knighting Day. Clem, a small ivory cat with a big sword and a pink bow on one ear, is one ear-tuft too short to be knighted. Then the kittens go missing, the Woof Brigade moves into Pawsbury, and Clem borrows some armour and sets off to bring everyone home.
Your job is to bring them back. You explore the island and the village of Pawsbury, light lanterns, reach the Bell Tower, and scout places like the Hyena Toy Fort. Along the way Clem meets friendly villagers and new friends, finds the kittens, and sends them home to the Pink Paw Rescue House, where rescued kittens nap and you can pop in to say hi. The quest ends when Clem rings the Sunbell.
It is a cosy quest, not a horror or survival game. There is light cartoon combat (Clem bonks enemies with her sword and pounces from the air), and a gentler Kitten mode with softer hits and wider parries if you want a calmer run.
How to play: controls
The default keyboard and mouse layout:
| Action | Keyboard and mouse |
|---|---|
| Move | WASD or arrow keys |
| Attack (bonk) | Left click or J |
| Guard (the game calls it Stand) | Right click or Q |
| Dodge roll | Shift |
| Jump | Space |
| Pounce | Jump, then attack in the air |
| Talk, use, rest at a Lantern Stone | E or Enter |
| Meow | C |
| Tuna snack (heal) | R |
| Lock on to an enemy | Tab |
| Pause | Esc or P |
On a touch screen you get on-screen buttons, and you swipe to roll. The game suggests turning your phone sideways, which gives you a wider view of the island. A gamepad works too. The settings menu also has other control layouts, including keyboard only and mouse-heavy setups.
The first part is a short practice with a training dummy. If you have played before, hold Esc or P to skip it and head straight for the bell.
How the rescue works
- Explore. Follow the current goal on screen, such as “Reach the Bell Tower” or “Light the lanterns”.
- Find a kitten. Kittens hide in odd spots, so look and listen. Each one you find shows a “Kitten found!” card with your count so far.
- Free it. Some kittens are trapped or guarded. Clear the way, then free the kitten.
- Send it home. Rescued kittens go to the Pink Paw Rescue House. Friends you make on the road join Clem as buddies, and you can swap buddies at any Lantern Stone.
When you save a kitten, the game can also offer a small free treat for the real shelter. More on that below.
Tips to find every kitten
- Meow a lot. Press C near barrels, crates and odd corners. The game’s own hint is that kittens hide in silly places, and a meow helps you find them.
- Talk to everyone. Press E to chat. Villagers and buddies drop useful hints, and pink paw prints on the ground show the way.
- Light every Lantern Stone you pass. Each one saves your progress and is a safe spot to rest. If you quit, you continue from the last one you lit.
- Ring the Heart Bells. Each one gives Clem an extra heart.
- Keep a tuna snack for emergencies. When your hearts run low, press R to eat one. Watch out for Snack Snatchers: if one swipes your snack, bonk it to get it back.
- Watch for “Nice timing!” When it flashes during a fight, attack straight away for a free hit. A dodge roll (Shift) gets you out of trouble.
- Try Kitten mode if fights slow you down. The rescue is the point; there is no prize for doing it the hard way.
The real cats behind the kittens
Pink Paw (Rožinė pėdutė) is a cat shelter in Kaunas, Lithuania, and Token Tails’ partner shelter since March 2025. The twelve kittens in the game carry the names and photos of real cats there. The game is honest about it: the island, Pawsbury and the Rescue House are made up, and so are the kittens’ adventures. The cats are real.
When you save a kitten, the game can offer a treat for the real shelter. One tap, and Token Tails sends Pink Paw a small treat. Token Tails pays for it from its own daily treat budget, so it costs you nothing, and you can send one a day. If today’s treats have run out, the game says so; they come back at 00:00 UTC.
Every treat is public. You can see each one, with its date, on the shelter payouts page. To meet the shelter itself, read about Pink Paw, the cat shelter in Kaunas.
Other kitten rescue games
If you want more games about saving kittens, two console titles are worth a look. Both are on the Nintendo Switch eShop and have nothing to do with Token Tails.
- Little Strays (COMMANDO PANDA, November 2024): you play a cat searching abandoned warehouses for food and stranded kittens, across 16 levels, with a split-screen mode where two players race to rescue the most kittens (Nintendo eShop).
- Purrfect Rescue (Gray Boss Game Studio, published by Silesia Games, August 2024): a relaxed hidden-object game where you find stray cats in a big city, with 505 cats to spot across five scenes (Nintendo eShop).
Pink Paw Knight is different from both: it is a 3D adventure, it runs free in a browser, and its kittens are real shelter cats. For more browser picks, see our list of free cat games online, or our round-up of virtual pet cat games.
Next: free a shelter cat in Catnip Heist
Liked the rescue? Catnip Heist is a free stealth puzzle game where two cats sneak past Kibble Corp’s guard dogs to free a shelter cat. Each level’s shelter cat is also shown next to a real Pink Paw cat. Our Catnip Heist guide has the controls and tips for three stars, and if you like brave cat heroes, read our round-up of warrior cat games.
